Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has become one of the main indications for liver transplantation. With time, it appears that patients with HCC have easier access to transplantation than non-HCC patients due to the exception points they receive. The authors used a comparative risk model assessment of HCC vs non-HCC on the waiting list to look at the opportunities of receiving a graft and suggest a model for an equitable graft allocation.
