Several studies have shown that the development of donor-specific antibodies that develop post-transplant are predictive of graft loss, but the time between the appearance of antibodies and graft failure is highly variable. This matched control study showed that the appearance of antibodies early post-transplant was associated with an increased risk of graft loss. If validated, this could identify a high-risk group of patients in the early post-transplant period who are at an increased risk of graft loss due to immunologic causes.
