Diarrhea is a common complication post-transplant. and often ascribed to mycophenolic acid toxicity. In this retrospective, single-centre study, a significant number of patients with chronic diarrhea showed evidence of norovirus or sapovirus infection. Viral shedding was prolonged, and was frequently associated with acute kidney injury. Larger, prospective studies will be needed to prove whether these viruses are a significant cause of post-transplant diarrhea.
