Influence of “Urgent” versus “Planned” Heart Transplantation on Healthy Behaviours among Patients

In the current era, almost 50% of patients undergo “urgent” cardiac transplant including some on mechanical circulatory support. This study examined the post-transplant behaviours of urgent versus non-urgent Polish heart transplant recipients. Despite the “crash and burn” or “sliding fast” scenario, the urgent patients surprisingly demonstrated a higher level of health practices and compliance post- transplant in comparison to their non-urgent cohorts.
