An increasing number of pediatric and adult recipients of intestine transplantation require retransplantation due to graft failure. This analysis of UNOS database is the largest report to date of patient and graft survival after isolated intestine and combined liver-intestine retransplantation. Patient survival after isolated intestine retransplantation was inferior compared to primary transplantation in adults (5y survival 28% vs. 54% respectively), while the outcome of liver-intestine retransplantation compared to primary transplantation was less favorable in children (5y survival 42% vs. 51% respectively).
