Donation after cardiac death (DCD) is being utilized to extend the donor organ shortage in lung transplantation.  This retrospective study compared the actuarial survival rates at 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years between a cohort of 21 DCD lung transplant recipients and donation after brain death lung transplant recipients, finding no significant differences.  Freedom from BOS, episodes of acute rejection, inflammatory bloodwork, and immediate postoperative outcomes were also not different.
