In 2007, France implemented a high emergency lung allocation system to prioritize candidates with immediately life-threatening conditions, such as mechanical ventilation and ECMO. This survival analysis assessed survival outcomes in patients undergoing transplant via the high emergency lung allocation system during the first two years. The study is limited by small patient numbers, but indicates reduced survival rates in the first 2 years post transplant for the patients with high emergency status compared to regular status.
