Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis can recur early and aggressively post-transplant. Currently, there are no tests to predict which patients are likely to have recurrence. In this paper, children with FSGS who were subsequently transplanted were analyzed for mutations in the NPHS2 gene. None of those who had mutations in this gene recurred post-transplant, while patients without mutations had a high incidence of recurrence.
