Bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome is the major cause of late mortality after lung transplantation.  Different subtypes of chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) have been identified in recent years, and these subtypes may respond differently to treatments and have different prognoses.  This retrospective single-centre study identified CLAD in 71 lung transplant recipients out of 294 transplantations performed, at a mean of 30.9±22.8 months.  Seventy-two percent of the patients had obstructive pulmonary disease and 28% had restrictive pulmonary disease.  Predictors of worse survival after development of CLAD were examined.
