Low vitamin D levels are associated with increased rejection and infections after lung transplantation

VItamin D deficiency has been associated with a variety of illnesses. More recent evidence shows a possible effect on lung function. Lung transplant recipients have a high incidence of vitamin D deficiency. This retrospective study identified an association between vitamin D deficiency near the time of transplant, and increased rates of acute rejection and infection.
