Even prior to transplant, management of the donor can affect the quality of organs and impact outcomes. This study evaluated the effect of meeting a set of pre-specified goals for donors, such as mean arterial pressure, central venous pressure, urine output and others. Meeting seven of the goals was associated with a lower risk of delayed graft function. These pre-specified goals are part of standard intensive unit care and therefore should be achieved in the majority of donors.
